I know that if I get my cat chipped at the vet, that if she were to go missing and someone took her into a vet, then they will know where she was from - but does it mean that they can also trace her if she went missing but I didn't know where she was???

Sorry if that doesn't make sense, but I don't really know how to word my question.

Thanks in advance. x x x

When an animal is taken to a rescue centre, vet or police station they will scan for a chip - if one is found the animal will be returned to the person in whose name the chip is registered.  But unless the pet is taken to be scanned, the chip cannot trace the animal to you automatically.
