our cat Violet Elizabeth Bott has died she was 16 yrs old and we rescued her at 5 weeks and fed her with a pipette, the vet said he didn't think she would make it, but who I really feel sorry for is her boyfriend a nice black & white cat, he sits in our arbor patiently writing for her and has come through our cat flap to look for her in the house, Miss Bott was a tart and would go out I the middle of the night to meet him, he comes here every day bless him, he looks well fed & cared for, he is definitely a stray or I would take him in, so sad there is no way to let him know what has happened.

Sorry for your loss, like most strays he probably has a wee route worked out where he is fed.
If you are happy for him to visit you, start leaving some food out for him, poor blighter misses his girlfriend.
Pity you couldn't have let him see her body Dee Sa. They do understand I'm sure. I was told to show my male cat who got run over and killed to his sister. Maybe they are a bit like elephants, if you know what I mean. Too late for you now though. Shame.
I agree with ladybirder.

Apologies Islay sorry theres a typo I meant he is definitely NOT a stray he looks well fed & cared for & has a collar , he used to come in with Miss Bott and eat her biscuits ! she didn't seem to mind, he must have been her toy boy.

He is probably as upset as you are. Can you put a little note on his collar to explain that the lady in his life has died. It will give his slaves/staff a hint in case he makes himself sick worrying about Miss Violet Elizabeth Bott.

I am sorry to hear about your little girl - she sounds like she was quite a character.

Ahh I agree leave a wee note on his collar

Clarion you have made your feelings towards animals very well known so why go on a thread about them?
oh Dee, I am so, so sorry. xx
((hugs))
She brought you and the late CS much happiness.
Excellent idea about the note under the toy-boy's collar.

Cats do care.

Sorry for your loss . Dee :'(
I agree totally with 10Clarion.......what a bloody stupid idea to put a note under the collar of the "lover boy"....he can't read.....can he?
This is the sort of thing that brings ridicule on animal lovers..

So sorry to hear your of your loss Dee, sounds like she had a good life with you for all those years.

(And I'm embarrassed to share this thread with 10CS and Sqad)
Baldric! Baldric! I am devastated at your comment as i am so an admirer of yours.......when you past I get this "stirring " in my loins........please! please don't let me embarrass you..... I long for you...need you.

I am an animal lover, have two cats and I am sure...very sure, that i would be devastated by the death of either....but another fact that i am equally sure about is if tone of them died, I would NOT write a note on the collar of the "lover" explaining the situation.
Are you man or mouse?
But would Mrs Sqad be thoughtful enough to do it?

The bereaved cat may go home and refuse to eat. Dee Sa will be upset at the death of Miss Bott but she understands life and death. The poor boy cat may be confused as well as saddened.

Man Sqad, no doubt, had you read the post at 13:28 and actually understood it you maybe would not have portrayed yourself in such a poor way.
Baldric...yes I read it, but in my experience no MAN, by MY definition would write a requiem to a dead cat and put it under the collar of another cat.
Wolf.....I have just asked Mrs sqad and she thinks the idea is IDIOTIC.
Sqad I think the reason for the note is to let the owner of the cat know what might be the reason for any change in his behavior etc
Baldric.......ahhhhh!! got it....that makes sense.....the note is for the owner..NOT the cat.
What a good idea.

As I said, "and actually understood it"
Guess that was too much to ask post-club.
