Has anyone else noticed the numbers of this lovely little butterfly about this year? I first noticed a few weeks ago that they were back in numbers. They used to be very common but I don't think I have seen them for years until this spring. The last time I remember there being so many was 1976 and we know what happened that year.

No, but I have seen a few of these which are probably my favourite (they also remind me of summer 1976) https://butterfly-conservation.org/50-1176/common-blue.html
So long as they all steer clear of my balcony......
I'm the same with my plants Rowan. Not a fan of butterflies :0(

Yes see those often 237. But I have not seen the Orange Tip for many years. Lots of them about this year. The only butterfly I chase away is the Cabbage White . Get orf my land!
I just don't know how anyone cannot be a fan of beautiful butterflies who have a hard time of it and need all the help they can get. I grow plants to attract them. I saw three orange tips all fluttering about together last weekend and yes they are a lovely little butterfly.
I can say that I've seen more than ever this year and I find them a sight to behold, for sure.
I put it all down to the increasing amounts of honesty plants and the garlic mustard plants, giving them a longer opportunity in finding a suitable food plant.
I've had Orange Tips in the garden this year. They are lovely.

My garden is in full bloom at the moment and, if I say so myself, looks wonderful. It's a riot of purple, yellow, white and blue. The Honesty has done really well this year and the butterflies and bees love it. So do I.
I agree Tilly, whats not to like!
I hope that no butterflies were harmed in the painting of the fence, Togo!
