After being given a gifting 2 adorable raccoons they’ve suddenly became quite vicious and have attacked my wife several times. We’ve had them for 7 months and they’re quite domesticated and even sleep on our cub board in the bedroom and they’ve been very placid but now aren’t. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Why on earth would you have two wild animals in your house?
Question Author
That’s like asking why do you have a dog or cat.

They’re very domesticated, intelligent creatures and the grandkids love playing with them.
They may just be coming out of the closet.
How old are they and what sex? They could have reached sexual maturity and the hormones that entails. Do they get on with each other? Perhaps you should have them neutered. Assuming this isn't a wind-up I also had 2 pet raccoons from babies and they were playful and cuddly pets - mind you I kept mine in a large run in the garden.
/// quite vicious and have attacked my wife several times///

... and you let the grandchildren play with them ?

Words fail me.
Obviously they are not domesticated, as they have attacked your wife. How will you feel if they attack the grandkids? I'd get rid of them.
He obviously doesn't give a van-damme
Lol!
Let them run free...but not in this country please
Is this post for real?
A rocky raccoon can be a potentially dangerous critter. A pair doubly so
Cinnamon scented candles after a warm bath is all that will calm them.
I like to give a question posers the benefit of the doubt but; "attacked my wife several times", and, "the grandkids love playing with them", seem incompatible.

If they've become unmanageable pass them on to a zoo or something.
Why not replace them with some nice birds ? They hardly ever get angry.
You sure about that, OG?...x
We had a furious finch once, almost had the Vicar's eye out.
Absolutely certain. No one's ever heard of angry birds.
5. Raccoons are notorious biters. They will bite family members, family pets, and visitors and their pets. Translation: raccoons are a medical and insurance liability.

Not yet, the parents are called itchy and scratchy. My grandkids named them after their favourite cartoon mcalled the grimsbys or something. I think we’ll name this Merry lot after the 7 dwarves from Snow White.
Happy.
Sleepy.
Doc.
Bashful
Sneezy.
Grumpy.
Dopey

After we see which ones live up to their names.

They’re all nestled on a blanket under our bed.
