I know that St. Patrick is supposed to have driven all the snakes out of Ireland but are there any there. Still.

The story about St. Patrick looks like a PR job from his publicist, because, according to this link, there never were - and still aren't - any snakes in Ireland. http://mentalfloss.com/article/93417/why-are-there-no-snakes-ireland

Have you been listening to religious fairy tales again?

...ah, but the Irish are very gullible when it comes to their saints...
Not sure about St Patrick, but my understanding is that there are no snakes in Ireland.
Most of the few hang around northern areas and require vast sums of money to control them.
They tend to congregate round a magic money tree tended by St Theresa.
St Patrick doesn't get the credit he deserves for banishing the moles, as well.
If you've any kind of a lawn in your garden you should be thanking him for the fact that you don't have molehills to contend with.
There is a poster in the shop on the Belfast-Stranraer ferry titled ST PATRICK DRIVING THE SNAKES OUT OF IRELAND, and a photo of the good saint driving (literally) onto the ferry in an open-top Beetle full of pythons and anacondas!

There are plenty of snakes in Belfast, on both sides of the wall :)
