I just spoke to the behaviourist who is bringing him down...she speaks of him with so much affection.

Not a lot of choice there is there, LB, which is good! I know Border Collies v well and I’m edging towards a puppy as you can mould them to exactly how you want them to be (off lead walking / commands etc)

He's gorgeous, pasta :-). And while I obviously can't speak for Sally, I did have the same though myself... but then told myself it would actually be rude to never have another, as if mine had put me off. Sadly, their lifespan is never enough, but have lots of fun together xx

We've had a bit of a setback.
As of Sunday night, he suddenly seemed spooked by every noise or voices. I blame it on sreaming children :(
So now, he stands at the door...sniffs, listens, backs up into the hall. I "might" get him down some stairs...but he'll then turn to go back.
I'm on the upper 2 floors...with a series of 4 mini stairs of 7 steps with landings in betweendown to outside.
Yesterday I just sat with the door open so he can sniff and listen. He's seen my neighbour...and scooted back in.
Had a long chat with the behaviourist last night and got some suggestions of how to connect treats with the scary things. She was going to come down...but that's no longer feasible. The troubling thing is that my urban environment...though not really noisey...may not be right for Sammi:(
As I say...I think he will have to stay here for the time being, so I will keep working with him, with the behaviourists advice. I expect to speak to her later.
I'm already attached to him...he's a really lovely boy.

So sorry to read this Pasta, what a shame. I know you'll do the right thing by him, even if it means letting him go to a rural home. But early days yet so all is not lost. Time and patience may yet be the key. xx

Things have become more positive. Tried out a suggestion from the behaviourist...and we made a tiny bit of progress. I then had a long chat with her, and we agreed that this may take weeks, but she too was quite encouraged. Tiny, tiny steps. It's a good thing that he is quite relaxed indoors...a sign he is comfortable with me.
