My 3 year old Shipoo refuses to eat any tin dog food (tried nearly all of them) but he will eat fresh chicken, but I am worried he isnt getting any other nutrients, by just eating it.

Will he eat dried food e.g kibble?
You say nearly all, have you tried Lillys Kitchen? My dog eats chicken all the time, but I give him tins of Lillys Kitchen once a week for a change which he loves. It's expensive.
Have you tried mixing the tinned food with chicken? I've found that usually does the trick. A sniff of something tasty in the bowl - and whoosh! It's gobbled up.
I have never had any dog that likes tinned dog food. I cook a cheap chicken every week and have an all in one dried dog food. I put some chicken on the kibble and feed them that twice a day, never had any problems. Often I buy the chickens on offer, cook a couple at a time and put some of it in freezer bags for convenience. That tinned dog food smells disgusting.
If you are happy giving chicken add some mixed veg and some pasta for a balanced diet.
We did this for 10 years for a fussy lab the vet said it was a balanced diet
I was lucky with food for my dogs, there was a nearby shop who sold every kind of meat specially for dogs.Mine used to love the tripe or pigs cheeks.
Now you would pay a fortune for pig cheeks because celebrity chefs use them
riptide the dog food may smell disgusting to you but it could be heaven for a dog ;-)

fruitsalad: If your dog won't eat wet food just give it dried complete food. Our working dogs get Field and Trial. They sometimes get gravy over it or meat scraps, but they never get tinned dog food.
If I remember correctly I used to pay 30p a pound for the pigs cheeks.
My dog will eat anything...he inhales it. I just need to find one that will give him firmer poohs.

No he turns his nose up at kibble it's been known to sit there for a couple of days he would rather go hungry, I have tried him on lillys kitchen, he wouldn't touch it and I have put the fresh chicken with the kibble and he will take out the chicken and leave the rest, its driving me crazy, hes worse than a toddler when he comes to food.
Does he eat other things like gravy bones or any of the other 'treats' out there for dogs? If he's otherwise fit and healthy, maybe his diet is fine for him.
The problem with just eating chicken is your dog will not be getting enough fibre. Boil a chicken take the meat off then boil the carcass to get some extra stock. Try mixing the chicken with whole grain boiled rice with some of the chicken stock over it
try soaking the kibble in chicken juice...or cook vegetables up with the chicken and process the lot to a thick soup and mix with kibble. If it works, then bulk cook the dog soup and freeze it in portions.

Yes he eats the odd dog treat and a dental stick each day, and I do give him some puppy milk as a treat now and again, but I will definitely try some of these ideas, thank you.
Good luck.
