British Museum Pushes Founder Off His Pedestal
The British Museum has removed a bust of its founder from prominent display, citing a move to acknowledge the museum’s historical relationship with slavery. Sir Hans Sloane funded his collection of artefacts, books and curiosities with profits from his wife’s sugar plantation. Shortly before his death in 1753, he bequeathed many of his belongings to the nation, and 71,000 of them formed much of what would stock the British Museum.

The museum’s director says, “We must not hide anything” but that’s exactly what they are doing. Hopefully in years to come no one will ask who founded and financed all the wonderful institutions that are now bowing to the Woke because at this rate the answers will have been forgotten.
What next? The renaming of Sloane Square?

So his wife's family was a slave owner. So what? He also did a great deal of good. I most certainly do not approve of slavery, but on the basis that everyone is tainted you would have to get rid of almost everyone in any position in the last 200 years. Er - George Washington anyone? It's History - get over it, leave it all as it and think whatever you want to think - then...

When an organisation turns against it's own founder (without valid reason) that indicates those in control are not suitable folk for the job. Leaving his bust where it was, and providing any additional info felt necessary elsewhere, isn't hiding anything. This is typical PC/woke bandwagoning. For shame.
are they trying to make britains ashamed of there history, because it will not work, erase it from our history, oh put it into context..
i would not change a thing, if it's so bad, why are there thousands
trying to get here, and the illegals who are already here, wipe the culture and heritage, for the new school of thought, correct thoughts

Probably the name"Hans"was problematic for the museum trustees. They probably thought this guy had Hitlerite leanings and would inspire other right-wing types who might wish to fund the museum.I wonder if they will refund his donations and return all monies accrued since his death to his descendants?
Let's just get this right ....the Director of the British Museum is an East German marxist from Dresden. Hmmmm, no hidden agenda there then. We must be mad. Why is he not in charge of the Beep? If the founder of the organisation is deemed to be beyond the pale then the organisation should be closed down. Close down the British Museum and relocate all the artefacts to their rightful owners, or flog em all to the very rich for their private enjoyment, and fill the building with refugees.
