Grey squirrel in the garden this morning. Think he/she was after the bird food but hey, there's enough to go round. Know they are not native, but just so cute.

Got a grey squirrel comes round most mornings, picking up whats fallen to the ground from bird feeders. Quite tame now and realises that it's the OH that puts out the food!

Was laying in bed early this morning watching the News Channel, glanced out the window, there was a Grey Squirrel sat on the sill watching TV with me.
Fine, as long as they don’t get into your attic.
I see one occasionally and I encourage it.
Tree Rats. Have at least 3 that visit my garden. Even destroying the wire cage on my hanging bird feeders.
I’d love to have a visiting squirrel.
a red squirrel
shame that the introduction of the grey has largely eradicated the red squirrel i believe some part of Scotland still have some reds.
Grey squirrels (Scirius caroliniensis) are native to North America and were first released in the UK in 1876 in Henbury Park, Cheshire. It’s not clear why they were introduced and the Victorians had no idea of the risks of introducing non-native species.
i see greys all the time in our communal garden...
We have loads living in the poplars down by the stream.

We have to use a special squirrel-proof bird-feeder, otherwise they’d scoff the lot!
They are all over the little paths and alleyways to the park. They'll jump across, just over your head.

Templeton Woods on the outskirts of Dundee (very near my home) has red squirrels which are protected. They ask that if you spot a red squirrel outside this area that you email them with details.
There is a red squirrel sanctuary in Formby (nr. Liverpool). They are delightful little creatures and you can buy food there and feed them. It's not the grey squirrels fault they were introduced to our country. Blame mankind for that, the biggest pest on the planet!
shame indeed they were introduced, our native reds have such an uphill battle for survival.
I have seen some reds at a nature reserve, beautiful wee creatures.
