I got an activity tracker for christmas. I was reluctant to set it up in case it belted out "you lazy fat lump" or "not ANOTHER cake" but I set it up last night to track my sleep. It told me this morning I'd had 2.32 hrs of deep sleep an 5.17 hrs of light sleep. 1 how does it know? 2 what's the optimum ratio between deep and light sleep?

>>> I was reluctant to set it up in case it belted out "you lazy fat lump" or "not ANOTHER cake". That's not called 'an activity tracker'; it's called 'a partner'. ;-) From the Fitbit website: https://blog.fitbit.com/sleep-stages-explained/

I don't know that, Bednobs but Dave will. However, does it record and play back your snoring?
Mine does and I was shocked and now know why everyone within half a mile of the sleeping me complains.... :-(
Of course. No need to disturb Dave. Chris is here!!!

Not sure if it records snoring. It's cheap so I doubt it. I am reluctant to use it during the day in case it reveals I've done 14 steps or something!
In healthy adults, about 13 to 23 percent of your sleep is deep sleep. So if you sleep for 8 hours a night, that’s roughly 62 to 110 minutes.

If that's right you're getting plenty of deep sleep.

Ahead of me jno....
If it reveals fourteen steps, you're overdoing it. Sit down and have another cake.
Will bet there is a feature on it known as a.. Cake Counter. When your step counter doesn't move and your cake counter does, you can be sure to be the top poster on the dieting threads sure to be starting on Saturday!
