Just noticed the great spotted woodpeckers have raised their young already and are teaching them to use the feeders.
They look very dapper with their red caps.

we have one (or two ... hard to tell) which pops into the garden to feast on the fat/seed logs that I hang out. I can't ell how many and have seen no evidence of babies...how lucky you are.

As far as I can tell, they are a none gregarious bird, normally seen in pairs or small family groups.
I think it's also quite normal for them to have just one young.
If I find a feather, I can't resist picking it up.
