Day Surgery

I got a call on Monday to say they had a cancellation for my second Carpal Tunnel op.

I’ll be in and out on the day but due to the short notice they wouldn’t be able to send out the information in time.

I can’t remember what to take with me. Obviously my dressing gown and slippers, insulin and snacks/lunch, need to take off my jewellery (will that include my belly bar)I’m assuming I’ll be allowed to keep my glucose sensor on. Anything else I’ll need. I’m taking my book to read while I wait as don’t want to be bored silly on my own.

You'll not need anything else. Have you been told how long you need to fast before op?

You're diabetic so you'll be first on the list.

No nail varnish or make-up.

Take all your medications.

I presume you're having this done under LA so no need to fast (but you should still be first on the list).

Local anaesthetic only a short wait afterwards, when I worked day surgery our carpal tunnels were in and out in around an hour

I don’t need to fast ellie as it’s only a local. I’m allowed to eat and drink as normal.

I’m 11am admission so I hope I’m high on the list. I was I think the only CT last time.

I’m gutted about the no nail varnish, was meant to be getting them done tonight but will just be getting them off. I don’t usually wear make up so I’m ok on that front. But yes LadyCG it’s a local - it’s bleeding painful but it passes quickly.

I was in and out in about that Rowan. They made me a coffee helped me dress and sent me on my way. In time for the Glasgow rush hour.
