Her scratching herself constantly, we’ve tried everything , changing shampoo, her food, my washing powder and softener, the Vets gave her steroids , it’s gone on for a few months now , tonight she was on my knee lying flat and I didn’t realise how her undercarriage is going bald with her scratching , I’ve tried antihistamine, we’re at our wits end now x

Brice suddenly became allergic to protein at 18 months old the steroids helped until we discovered what it was
Question Author
No, not yet APG
To answer AnneE, I’d do anything for Lola ( including steroid treatment) but I’m concerned about it’s long term effect on her
I agree with Redhelen. Feed lola rice and raw mince (does not have to be the good stuff) with some carrots and peas boiled up with the rice. the crap they put in some dog food is unbelievable.
I feel sorry for the dog . Should you not take the vets advice ?
For Funks Sake Anne I can't imagine Bobbi is not taking the vets advice. Stop stirring and grow up!
Sorry, but I don't bielive it is anyhing to do with her diet. When did you hear of a human with dermatitis caused by what they eat? It is something else that is causing it.
*believe*
Bobbi we had one of our sheep dogs with a similar condition. She was put on Steroids until the cause was found, she was only 18 months old and was on steroids for nearly a year. Shes now 14 years old and fit as a flea.
I am stirring nothing ,. Going by the OP it appeared that Bobbie wants a new vet because they ( vet) had suggested steroids . You have a very unfortunate attitude APG.

Thanks APG I’ll try this tomorrow, I’ve got mince etc

For Funks sake woman ( Asquith) I’m worried about my dog and all advice is welcome!
Bobbie, who suggested steroids for Lola ?
I don't think Anne is stirring...she is simply making enquiries as we all are.
My mum’s dog had an auto immune disease and was on steroids long term, well, up until she died actually. She lived until she was 11, which is a good age for her breed.

Thats the best pot/kettle/black quote of the century Anne lol!
Question Author
She’s been on them for a couple of weeks ( vet) I’m seriously worried about long term effect if she’s prescribed long term
So she has been on steroids for 2 weeks and no improvement ? I’m sorry to hear that .
If she is prescribed them long term, then the vet will not be doing their job. They need to find the cause, not just treat the symptoms.
Question Author
That was a month or so ago Anne but the problem seems to have worsened , then we thought it was pollen
Question Author
I’ll ring in the morning , I’ve even rubbed ( thinly;) Sudacrem to help her
