Help with ID please.
I heard the sound of a bird in my garden that was unfamiliar to me.
I looked up at the sky and saw a black, crow sized bird that made a sound unlike any I'd heard before.
The best I can do at describing it is a turkey-like call.

Any ideas, folks ?

Thanks, that's a possibility
Jackdaw? Brilliant mimics.
There's a YouTube video for everything, it seems!
So sorry that answers have not been very enlightening.
I hope responses are more forthcoming.

Sorry I don't have anything more informative to offer.

Hi all, I don't think it was a jackdaw, it seemed bigger than that anyway. I noted it had a long tail, similar to a magpie, but looked more carrion crow size.
A crow that lived near a turkey form, seems the best answer so far!
Cheers

I've looked at a few videos and I think what I saw was a passing raven. It was the tail shape the really clinched it.
I once dated a strange bird but that's for a different thread :-))
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.” :-)
That will be a raven. Very large black bird, like a carrion crow,
