Illegal hunts still take place in Dorset, and police appear to turn a blind eye to both the Hunt and to the violent intimidation of those who try to prevent it.

Please sign now to bring an end to this cruel so-called sport, and prevent these lovely creatures from being torn apart alive in the name of human pleasure. Such barbarism has no place in the twenty-first century.

No one can justify hunting foxes,it's cruel, and how many times have you seen reports of the pack going into private gardens and killing household pets.
TTT //The problem is that Blair and co managed to make it illegal in such a way that it's more or less impossible to enforce.//

And not exactly helped since then by the Tories teasing about the chance of a free vote to repeal the ban at every election.
237sj, don't be sorry, it happens almost every week.
Not your fault.
I think foxhunting as a sport is cruel and unnecessary. I don't see how signing any petition is going to make an illegal activity 'more illegal' though, please explain?
It's banned in Germany, guess by whom ?

At risk of invoking Godwin's Law on the thread ....it was Adolf Hitler!
I will sign. We live in the heart of the countryside and like many are totally against the Countryside Alliance. I am well aware of countryside ways. I know its illegal and I also know it still goes on.
There are less foxes here than in the towns.

I am happy to sign.
I'm with Gness and others on this. And most of the hunting shooting people around us are wealthy town dwellers who come down for jolly weekends and pay a lot of money to the estate. And we've had a lot of confrontations with hunters and shooters should they come near our property.

What is the point of the petition?
No, I do not approve of fox hunting and share the views of Gness, SD and Miss T. Tony Blair failed the many, many people who wanted a total ban and left the loophole of trail hunting which is the biggest farce EVER and is exploited openly by the vile hunters and their supporters, as foxes are still being killed this way. I'm not sure what purpose it will serve, but I will sign the petition.
I have been a member of LACS for many years and utterly abhor anyone who participates in this dreadful "sport".
I will sign but do not know if it will help. It is already meant to be illegal.
Gill. This petition will highlight not only the lack of action by police but some of the reasons for that lack of action.
Read about the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt and the Dorset Police as an example.
Happy to have signed, but I doubt the efficacy of the petition.
You probably have more faith in the law and the police than I do gness.
I have been signing petitions for many years and , as I said, belong to the LACS.
If it isn't policed properly what more can be done?
I have this going on round our home

I hate it! And they have no respect for anybody.

One of the things I don't like about living in the country.

As for all that being sport ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
And of course it still involves foxes. All animals are precious as far as I am concerned. And a fox took my blind cat one cold snowy winters day. Probably a very hungry fox. I was grief stricken but didn't make me hate foxes. It came back for the other cat who fought it off but was traumatised and ill for weeks afterwards.
Gill. I have no faith in the UK police at all.
My hope is that the more people will become aware that the law against fox hunting is constantly being broken and that the police are accommodating the law breaking.

MissT. I looked at the photos of the shooters. Men of a type. Men lacking in something. Killing 200 to 400 birds? And Gin for morning break? Says it all. :-(
There is something about guns and a certain type of man - I went clay pigeon shooting a few times, was OK at it and enjoyed the sport - until one day I had a few beers with some of the other shooters. What a dreadful display of testosterone fuelled arrogance. Never went back - ever.
Fortunately Gness the land behind us has now been sold to a much smaller farming company and don't allow shooting on their land. Andc younare right about the men. Quite a few women involved too, usually beaters!! The awful thing is a lot of the shooters are useless rich townies who can't aim. The local surfs are the beaters!! And they raise and protect all those poor birds just to shoot them!!

Good on you Sunny Dave x
I've shot clays and targets, MissT when I was in the oldies adventure club but the thought of killing birds as they do is abhorrent. There really is something weird about men looking so joyful carrying 20 or 30 bloody and dead birds back for a celebratory gin.

I only went for one shooting session. All men and creepy. One made his entrance in a Tiger Moth. He was letchy so my friend Liz and I nicknamed him Mothballs. He made a pass at me so I told him Liz and I were in a relationship. Don't know who was more surprised, Mothballs or Liz....:-)
