...a mouse hanging on a bird feeder in my garden. I thought it was charming but the little critters have overstepped the mark. They're in my house.
What's the best bait for mouse traps?

I've ordered some lethal traps but on reflection I may get humane ones.
I'll try the peanut butter in them when I get them.

Best thing you could do,sandy,is burn your house down, the mice will all rush out and then you can bash them over the head with a spade.They wont think about invading your house ever again.Well the dead ones wont.

Years ago I lived in an old house divided into flats. At night I would hear a gnawing sound. The rats were chewing through the floorboards.
A neighbour told the landlord and he set poison.
I woke one morning to see a rat sitting on the floor of my kitchen. It must have been in agony to forget the basics of self preservation.
I dispatched it with a shovel.
I'm of an age where I don't want to harm any creature.

Wrong thread,sandy.Other creatures you would get rid of would be dormice,small snappy dogs,frogs,newts or slow-worms...if they were ever to invade your house....
