My On-Line Friend, A Nigerian Princess,...

Surely it annoys you when people are languishing in a cell for ridiculous reasons like shouting scum at the police?
Or maybe it doesn't.
A couple of years ago, there was a case where a man who had abused his own children wasn't given a prison sentence, but had to comply with all sorts of court orders and community work. His ex-wife said she was satisfied with sentence because it would mean a great disruption for him that he wouldn't have had if he'd been in prison.
It's worrying isn't it.
There's a lot of mitigation in the linked article, but for me it counts for nothing - the fact is he was in possession of and shared sex videos of children, and yet didn't receive a custodial, but type or share some hurty words on social media and it's off to chokey.
It's mad.
It spoils a good argument when one set of law breakers are compared with others.
Peadophiles, those who actually abuse children and those who watch on-line, are equally guilty. On conviction a custodial sentence should be the judges first thought.
This is a crime that can affect the victims for their entire life.
