My cat is called "Sneekes" in honour of Richard Sneekes, the footballer.Signed from Bolton Wanderers by West Bromwich Albion in 1996. Our position at the time was hopeless, relegation to the third tier of English football a certainty, but we were saved by the goals of the long haired flying Dutchman!

Has anybody else a pet named in honour of anyone?

On the football theme, but certainly not named 'in honour' my dog gets called Delia Smith. He (yes I did say HE!) started off as Delboy, then it got to Deely then Delia Smith. I actually knew of a Smooth Collie whose pedigree name was Astrellita Bolton Wanderer, so called because he used to get out of the puppy pen and wander around the kitchen. Another breeder called one litter after footballers, during the time of the last World Cup. I also know of several 'Becks' and a 'Posh'.
My mum named my dog Twizzle (before she gave him to me) apparently after a childrens program of the same name that she used to watch when she was little.
His brother is called Scooby-doo
i have 2 cats called scooby & scrappy, also a dog called charlie after charlie brown and another cat called snoopy , and another cat called jess from postman pat...i think we must be cartoon freaks

We have Trumpton, Jess and Campbell. Jess is a Postman Pat's cat lookalike, Trumpton is so-named because when we first got him he had severe wind problems, and Campbell is not named after the Arsenal player, but is an abridged version/strangulated version of Camberwick Green ( much easier to call her in by).

Our cat is called Frankie, after the jockey Frankie Dettori

When I was younger my parents had cats called Marbles (she was a tortisheshell with a marbley coat), Misty (because it was a misty morning when we went to get him) and now they have Million (another tortiseshell with "millions" of colours in her coat.

My brother also had a budgie called BA (after BA Baracus in the A-Team). I had budgies called Shiro and Pippy, and we had fish called Giggles, Freebie and Captain Caveman

My three cats have been christened 'Moet' 'Lanson' and 'Bollinger'.

Not celebs or footballers, but at least we've an excuse for a bottle of bubbly on thier birthdays!
