They live in warm, humid conditions next to streams and rivers where their roots are constantly wet. I have even grown these in tropical fish tanks totally submerged under water.
Indoors, they require a bright humid area out of direct sunlight and should not be dried out. When the flowers die off, cut the stalks back as far as possible and feed weekly with miracle grow or another liquid feed. New flowers should appear if conditions are right.
thanx hammerman it's not often my husband buys me anything so i really want to keep it alive. at the mo it's at the top of the stairs we have no window there so it just has light coming through from the bedrooms, is this a suitable place or do u think somewhere else would be better? what about watering should it be kept quite wet?anymore info that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. thanx
