I know what it is, but can anyone who has had a dog/cat with it please tell me what their experience/outcome was.

I have a rottweiller and she contracted this last monday, she has had anti-biotics etc, but still couldn't keep anything down.

She went back to the vets on thursday and was on a drip for 24 hours.

She is home now, but only drinking water (no food). I intend to ring the vet tomorrow as she has been sick again tonight (no solid food for a week).

I really need to know if this is a normal length of time for her to be suffering like this, or, is a week long enough to see her back on her food as normal.

Usually improvement is evident in 72 hours and the animal is normal in 7-14 days, possibly with an occasional head tilt persisting. When a case of vestibular disease presents, it may be a good idea to wait a few days to see if improvement occurs before doing diagnostics beyond a routine blood/urine database. These two conditions are idiopathic, meaning we do not know why the occur.

Thanks Kim,
We are now on day 8, and there is a vast inprovement.
Very frightening to begin with though, as we were convinced, as is common, that she was having a stroke.
