I went thru the courts for the settlement on my house without the benefit of legal advice, it was straight forward as my ex was happy to transfer the house. I understand your question to mean that you are a man and your ex has said you assaulted her, this isn't a case for the family court i don't think, they deal with settlements more when kids are involved. if there are no children I am not quite sure what you are going to court for, if the mortgage company has accepted you are taking over the mortgage then I don't understand unless your ex is sueing for a share, in which case you probably have to show the joint contribution during the jointlife of the mortagage, i am no expert on property law by any means, but i am not clear as to why her saying you were allegedly abusive has any bearing on a property settlement where no kids are involved. Someone will no douut enlighten us.
