Why won't my dog eat?

My step father brought his ex wifes dog from her home of 9 years, she was fine at first, she settled in great but then one day last week she couldn't stand up and couldn't eat, she will only take food out of my hand and drinks bucket loads of water, I am really worried but can't think what could be wrong there was no previous signs of illhealth.

A trip to the vet is esential. It could be her heart or her kidneys or lots of other things. Please take her straight away. You need professional advice and your dog needs to be examined.

Agree with gessoo,get her to vets asap,put your mind to rest as well!

I agree with the others, she needs to be seen by a vet straight away, don't worry though it could be something simple like heat stroke, sun stroke or an ear infection, this will make her feel giddy and sick and therefore not want to stand up or eat and the water will cool her down.

Thank you very much for your kind imput, unfortunately we didn't get her to the vet in time and she died on wednesday morning.
