As most of you know, I have a rat in my kitchen. Last Thursday the Rat Catcher (ha, didn't sodding attempt to catch it did he?) put some poison in trays behind my fridge. Anyhoo, on Sunday the damn thing was still alive and well and last night I'm sure I heard it.

How long does this stuff take to work? Can I be even sure it's eating the poison, as I can't get behind the fridge to see, and quite frankly I don't wanna either. The Rat Man's coming back in 3 weeks, but I want it gone...well, like yesterday.

Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? I'm worried about getting more poison as ive a dog, and apart from where the poison already is there's nowhere to put it where she (the dog) won't get to it and stupidly eat it.

(Correct category this time Boo? Check!)

That's what I've got!!! She's about as useful as a chocolate fireguard Craft. Oh don't get me wrong, she happily sniffs round where it goes, but that's as far as she gets- useless mutt!
Arm yourself with a Baseball Bat BOO ! A good crack over the head with that should do it ! :-)
ring the rat man again?
lol even my westie would have a go............he keeps laying mice on the doorstep :-(

its living behind an old gas fire Red, aint no getting to it. It's bloody quick I can tell you!

Mr Boo is very reluctant to pull the fire out whilst it's there, and whilst I happily call him a wuss for that, I can't say I blame him really.

do you think i should McFluffy? Will they just think im an hysterical woman (which I am really) over it, tell me to bugger off and they'll see me in 3 weeks time as they've said?

My dogs (all three as daft as brushes) would probably wait for it to come out to play. I'd ring the Rat Catcher again right now.
"Arm yourself with a Baseball Bat BOO ! A good crack over the head with that should do it ! :-)"

It's easier to hit them with a spade or shovel.
My JR cross catches Rats and kills them BOO! Do you want to borrow her. Mind you, she isn't that good, she usually gets bitten because she catches them by the bum instead of by the neck and they turn round and bite her face.

The regular old style poison takes ages - it's warfarin and thins the blood so they bleed to death internally and seek a warm place to die. The new poisons are quicker and more humane, but I think most councils use the old style. The problem with that is that the rats crawl away into a hot spot to die usually behind hot pipes and the smell of them rotting is a smell like nothing else on this earth - totally rank and takes about 6 months to go away (if not longer).

(where did the incorrect post go BOO. I need a laugh!!)
Ask Fluff if you can borrow her Cat, it would frighten the Rat to death ! lol

But how Trim? It's behind a (admittedly defunct) gas fire. If I, in a mad minute, manage to muster up the courage to yank the fire out, won't it just leggit to somewhere else in my house? My Bedroom? That makes me go all queasy thinking about it.

I put it in food and drink Lottie!

If you expose it BOO, beware it will scream out and it's a really awful noise -you would probably die from shock. I do not jest!!!
Get yourself a rat trap and put chocolate on it - leave overnight and keep dog out of kitchen. Simples - unless you want to be setting an extra place on the table at Christmas, I would take swift action now !
