hi. my cat went missing yesterday, it is the first time this has happened. she goes out but normally only as far as she can see the house. i went out yesterday for a while and she was sat on my front steps (she didn't want to go in) but when i came back i couldn't see her, i called her but she never came. i went all round our estate last night and today i've been all round the village looking for her but there is no sign. i've put up a poster in our local shop. just wondered if anyone had any more suggestions as to where she could be xXx

I know this sounds really horrible, but when cats are ill or feel like they're dying, they will often curl up under a bush where they feel comfortable enough to pass away. When my cat went missing we printed off little flyers and posted them around the neighbourhood asking people to check their gardens and under any bushes or shrubs etc. He came home after a few days though. thanx lou. i've been round all the hedgerows in the area but i can't see her xXx
I don't really have any suggestions, but I know lots of ppl who have cats who sometimes go away for a few days for no reason and then do come back. It is quite common for them to go awol even when they are usually regular at returning home... Hope she comes back, you must be very worried.
Actually I do have a suggestion - often ppl will see cats and let them into their houses, maybe thinking they are a stray , or just for the novelty of stroking a cat and feeding it etc. Cats being cats love being spoilt so tend to lap up attention from ppl. It is possible that your cat has been given food and warmth from a neighbour and is enjoying it hence has not returned. Like I say tho, having talked to my friends about cat behaviour, they do usually return after their mysterious absences.
Yesterday was a Saturday. Hope she hasn't darted into somebody's shed or garage just as they were getting ready to go on a fortnight's holiday.
Also put up a poster on the front of your fence and put little notes through neighbours' doors asking them to check in sheds and garages. If she's a young cat she may just have found another friendly cat and be hanging around his house, or has possibly found a pigeon loft nearby, or a house which keep chickens, and she can't bear to leave them along. Hope she soon returns.

i don't think one of the neighbours have got her. everyone around here knows who she is and where she lives. it's killing me, i feel sick. i just want her to come home xXx
Ours 'goes on his holidays' from time to time - ie he goes missing for no apparent reason and then turns up again 3 or 4 days later, ravenous. I have no idea where he goes.

However, we have lost him twice when it was our own fault. Once we had workmen up in the attic and, unbeknown to us, the cat went up the ladder, too. We heard him two days later meowing from the hatch! The other time, he'd gone into the shed while I was doing some gardening. He had curled up in the warmth and gone to sleep. That time I found him the following day.

Do ask your neighbours to check sheds and garages.

i've been round the all our neighbours and asked them to check in their garages but she wasn't in any of them

i just want to keep looking for her but i have been everywhere today and there has been no sign of her. i can't go out now because i'm here on my own with my daughter and she's in bed now. i feel useless just sat here. i don't know what else i can do xXx
hey posy dont get too upsett im sure shell turn up as if nothing has happened xx
Hi ~Posy~
I hope she returns. I know when one of our 2 goes on one of their jaunts I worry until they come home and the sick feeling in your stomach is just horrible.
One of our's used to go back to our old house about 1/2 mile away. He did it quite a few times. He would be gone for days until he was found there, eventually he stopped doing it thank goodness.
I tend to go out shaking a box of treats and just keep calling them through out the day.
I hope she turns up soon and puts an end to your worrying.
I will keep checking back to see if there is any news :o)
last time I saw her she was walking quite happily past the chinese takeaway. On another subject - has any had those new "chicken wings" from there, they are awfully tough and dont really taste like chicken at all. Hope she comes back xxx
The other thing, posy - cat's can go for miles around so just because no immediate neighbours have seen her doesn't mean she isn't away far off maybe.. Cat's can wander for miles. Try not to worry, and there is only so much you can do. See, lots of ppl are posting saying that their cats have wandered off for days on end. Also I remember one time when I though my cat had run away but she was just hiding in my house! So even tho ppl can look in sheds / gardens etc, cats can be very hard to find. It doesn't mean she's not around just because ppl can 't find her . She'll come back when she's ready I'm sure.
I really hope she comes back Posy, keep us informed. One of my cats went missing for about a day and a half. I had given up hope, when she strolled back in. She was covered in sticky sap like stuff, so I think she may have been stuck up a tree.
It is very worrying, I wish that we could all have some kind of chip that will monitor their whereabouts! Try not too worry too much, although it is difficult.
Cheers Sue
oh no! havnt been on here for a bit ..poor posy..i am thinking of you ..i hope she turns up soon..my thoughts are with you .you must be heartbroken..my fingers are crossed katie, ruby and bella x x x x
Thankfully it seems that John Virgo's 'funny' post has been removed from this thread. It was a nasty comment that does not help when someone is obviously worried about their animal.
Awww ~posy~...have you got a local Cats Protection League? if you have, give them a ring (look in your local paper for the number, or maybe the yellow pages?) and give them the description of your cat.

Someone may well find her & inform them ~ I have found from experience that they are a very helpful 'middle man' in these situations. Is your cat micro chipped? it would make finding her a little easier if she is.

I do hope she turns up soon xxx
Hope she turns up hun, its an awful feeling. xxx Alison

thanx everyone. she hasn't turned up yet, i just wish i knew she was ok. i have phoned cats protection and all the vets in the area. unfortunately she is not chipped, but it will be the first thing i do if she ever comes home. my little girl is so upset. xXx
Hi ~posy~, I'm so sorry to learn that your dear puss is missing' I do hope she turn up safe and sound, I know what you are going through, the first time my "Millie" went missing for 24 hours I was beside myself with worry as she was only 18 months old at the time, I'd done everything which you have done. I was so up set I took a day off work and started to make posters to dot around our area, then she just walked in as if nothing was the matter, I cried with relief that she was o.k. and she was promptly grounded for 2 weeks. I hope its good news for you, I will be thinking of you, take care. X X X :-)
