guinea pig

i have a long haired guinea pig which has rectal impactions. does anyone know what is the best thing to do to help it?

Hi, are we talking inside or outside the rectum? If they are inside I would have to suggest a visit to the vets. If however they are on the outside [we call them klinkers in this house....lol] then its bathtime! Warm soapy water and lots of gentle scrubbing. This site also suggests the vets for internal impaction.

I would imagine it is something to do with diet, so hopefully someone will answer this question with a dietry solution.
