This probably sounds silly but we have a 2yr old cat and would like another pet such as a guinea pig. We would want to keep it in a cage in the house not outside. Would this be a safe thing to do or would the cat 'get' the guinea pig? Have any of you kept small animals in cages when you also have a cat?

Ive got two cats and two indoor guinea pigs. The cats don`t take a blind bit of notice of them.
Hi tig - I also have cats and a guinea pig. The guinea pig gets to run round the living room occasionally and the cats take no notice of him. Just make sure that if he is out you never leave them alone together but in a cage he should be quite safe.

I'm not so sure my cat would leave it alone thats the problem! In fact if it were running around on the floor I'm sure he would chase it thinking it was a mouse!
Its good to hear that it can be done though cos I think guinea pigs are so sweet and would love to have one again.
