Hi just bought the above to add to my established tank, my pearl geurami has gone really odd, he is guarding the gold one thru the plastic bag and won't move away, this has been over an hour now since I floated the bags. is this perhaps love at first sight?

Hello, you might have guessed I'd answer this dotty, rofl.

Gourami's are notoriously territorial. Unfortunately whether you've now got 2 males or indeed one male and one female, you'll find that one will bully the other mercilessly. I have in the past bought two lots of male and female intending to be a pair. One always manages to kill the other :-(

Hi B00 yes i hoped you would spot it. They are out of the bags now and seem quite placid, i purposefully tried to get one the sameish size but thought a different colour would be easier, the pearl one got rid of his mate last year.
I've given up on 'em now- they look lovely in the tank too, but i just can't keep a pair. They seem to get along...well...swimmingly.....for a few weeks then I'll get up one morning and one's a floater :-(

Good luck with yours though, fingers crossed!
How does a fish kill another fish? The only thing I can think of is to take a chunk out of it - surely not!
don't you believe it wolf!
