Nothing, although German Sheperd Dog is the preferred title.
About 100.00
Anti German feeling after the great war was espicially high when all things german were unfashionable. This led to the dropping of names like German shepherd and replacing them with Alsation. Similar alrterations were made with the replacement of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with Winsor.
A german shepherd looks after sheep, but an alsation would eat the sheep.
nothing but the spelling :-)

German Shepherd is now the official name for this breed.
When German Shepherds were first imported into the UK, because of the "Anti German" feelings, they decided to use the place that they were imported from instead, which was Alsatia. hence the name alsations. There is no real difference, but if you asked breeders, there are currently 3 different "Types" of German Shepherd Dogs in the UK....... Germanic, Middle, and English. The English type are much more stocky and square looking along the back, with a shorter neck.
could anyone out there please recommend a breeder of German Shepherd dogs. I live in Sheffield but dont mind travelling. I am wanting two dogs from the same litter< no older than 12 weeks. Much appreciated
