Any advice on dog colds?

My 6 month bulldog has got a head cold, runny nose, sneezzing and feeling very sorry for himself! The vet has diagnosed it as a cold and says as its viral there is nothing to give him. Do you have any suggestions as to how to make him more comfortable and to quicken up him getting better?
