"No animals were harmed"

At the end credits of movies where animals feature, a statement reads "No animals were harmed during the making of this film" - BUT, what do they put if an animal was injured or hurt ? Or would they just omit the usual statement and not mention anything? confused.com lol

They just wouldn't mention it at all. I'm given to understand that the welfare of animals on film sets came firmly to the fore during the shooting of the chariot race in Ben Hur, when dozens of horses were maimed and killed. Makes you think, doesn't it, bearing in mind that that wasn't exactly centuries ago!

I am sure that it means that animals were not killed or injured if they appear to be killed or injured in the film, rather than an animal having an accident during filming.
For example, if a film shows an animal falling off a cliff, I don't think they really chuck one off just to film it fall!

No-one could guarantee that not a single animal would be injured, they can hurt themselves doing the simplest things.

they wouldnt say anything like on a packet of crisps if it isnt suitable for vegetarians they wouldnt say that they just wouldnt say anything wich is abit unfair.
