Wasps Bees & Your Pets

Hi guys do you get concerned that your dog would try and eat a wasp or a bee, to day my burt insisted on chasing a bee.
This can be dangerous can anyone tell me if there is some sort of spry you can buy to stop them getting to close, (animal friendly ) or any other solutions.

Hi megan,
I would worry if my dog tried to eat a wasp or bee but fortunately she doesnt bother with them .
I got a scare in Australia when I lived there and had a cairn terrier.As a puppy she collapsed in the garden and had to be rushed to the vet due to a poisonous spider bite !!!!!

Hi bigmamma how are you , hope you are OK i bet you got a shock when that happened.
Burt is 14 months so he still has a bit of the mischievous puppy in him, and anything that fly's he wants to catch it .
Never mind i will just have to keep a close eye on him, the little tinker.

Your Burt sounds adorable, I can imagine him chasing and trying to catch anything that flies and getting into all sorts of mischief !!! Ha
My lab is now 5 yr old so has more settled periods although , given the chance, she can still be like a bouncy youngster. x

Hi megan, have responded to your comments re news of the world on other thread.
I am also concerned about the dogs eating a wasp or bee, but dont know of any solutions. But I put in a google search for such a thing and came up with this site -

Hi Bigmamma hasn't it been a lovely day, yes my burt is absolutely adorable if you go on to google and type in basset hound, there are three pics the one on the end with the six bassets my burt looks just like that.
He is classed as an open red and white,( white fur with red spots ) he has stacks of wrinkles a powerful neck sad eyes very long ears and massive feet! and he has me rapped a round his big paws lol.
My friend has 2 chocolate labs they are gorgeous and burt loves to play with them when we see them on the field.

Hi pmjblue thank you very much, for the link it is very helpful i will buy the wasp trap and the solar insect killer.I feel a bit naughty doing this but my burt is more important to me, and i must eliminate any risk of stings.
This has been very helpful, and good on you pmj for getting in-touch with dog world, and i strongly agree with you about the china products .
I will defiantly be checking my labels when out buying, please keep me informed pmj, i think it would be good if the A.B. Ed would put the petition on all category sites/ pages and ask all ABers to singe the petition hint hint :-) i hope you enjoy the rest of the day pmj take care love megan. :-)

I have googled and OH what a beauty. That wonderful face and those great paws. I can just imagine how you must enjoy him.
Pleased you seem to have got the info about the insect repellent you need and you are right, little Burts health is paramount. x :-)

Thank you Bigmamma apart from loving my family the way i do, i love my grandchildren and my burt more than i love life it's self.
My burt is treated like a king, i love him so much i wished we could put photo's of our pets on hear, it would be nice to see everyones pet.

megan, glad that is of interest to you. I tried to put the petition on some other categories, but the editor has banned them, so i have emailed to ask why - it is a worthy cause after all. If you want to put your dogs photo on a site, you should try superstar pets. I better not put the link to the site in case that is banned too!...........Julie x

Hi pmjblue how you doing, yes i agree with you it is a very good cause and you would think that A.B. would support us. i can not understand it .
I know a lot of A.Bers have pets and i am suer they would singe the petition, i am friendly with my local newagent and i will ask him to put the link on his counter/ window, i will provide pens and a note-pad for customers to jot the link down.

Good morning pmj , thank you for my clues later on to day i will be looking , and i will not give up untill i fined you and you babies, i say babies it is just habit my burty will alway's be my baby.
I am so pleased about the site, because it is so dedicated to animals, and you can share with other members how proud you are of your pets,i will get my son-in-law to put burt's pic's on for me.
