It was on it's own, in distress and exhausted through panicking. When Mr.P picked it up it didn't struggle, just nestled into the palm of his hand and went to sleep.
I rang the RSPB and RSPCA who said I was to take it home.
They collected it within the hour, and said it was very weak, which is probably why it had been abandoned by it's Mum.
It is now in a duck sanctuary in an incubator under a heat lamp. They apparently have a good few of a similar age ( 2 days !! ) and will be put with them when it gets a bit stronger. So it will be part of a family again !!!!
I feel good.
Have you ever rescued anything ? x x

Well done pep not many would go out of there way for an animal.
Well done :) Thats great!
Many times when i was younger and the cat cought birds but didnt kill them, me & my sister would try and rescue them, but we never succeeded & none of them ever survived :(
We always had a warm box handy and would dig up worms in the garden to try & feed them!
Know how ellated you feel as I once rescued a butterfly but dont you think that you have stopped some poor little sole from eating there sunday dinner by rescuing your fine featherd friend
No...but I did run about 3 ducklings over once as they casually crossed the duel carriageway.

Nearly crashed my car, started gagging and my daughter burst into tears.....
And sorry for that one but could not resist it
Hi Peppy how sweet, my dad often rescued wild animals, and if there was nothing we could do at home, he would take them to a sanctuary.
This explains where i get my love of animals, this is a lovely post Peppy, take care love megan. xxxxx
We were driving today and my fella slowed the car down and there was a deer limping across the road :( Made me sad and I know i couldnt of helped it or anything so we drove on

I once found a poor tiny kitten and had to phone the RSPCA to pick it up from my house . It was pure a pure white albino and absolutely stone deaf . xx

I've heard that about a lot of white cats bigmamma, that they are deaf x x

We also rescued 4 stray and VERY weak kittens in Cyprus one New Years Eve. I'd been feeding them daily for over a week and finally managed to get their cat rescue out to help me. The 4 we got were all loners and skin and bone.

I was scratched to ribbons but it was worth it.
The annoying thing was the attitude I came across out there towards cats, they're vermin, yet every souvenir shop we went in had dozens of postcards with ' cutesy kitten poses ' on them. It's hypocritical.

Paddy over ! x x

It is a shame Peppy, but they have soooo many stray cats over in coutries like that.
We used to go to Tenerife and it was swarming with stray cats & kittens, my mum went back last year and there were hardly any, they had all been killed by the government (if thats what they have out there!)
:(
We always made friends with cats on holiday, one was very special, she was a kitten when we got there, we called her Manky, my sister came down with Sun stroke and Manky never left her side when she was stuck in the apartment! By the time we left, she was pregnant :(
I've probably recused about 20 ducklings in my life. Used to always bring them home and we ended up having a little run made for them in the garden. I used to stick them in a box with a hot water bottle.
