cat killing birds
9 Answers
My two year tomcat (neutered) has recently killed 3 bluetits that nest in the eaves of our house. He has killed mice and birds in the past. He always wears a collar with a big noisy bell. What else can I do to stop him killing and being his victims home? Thank you.

It wasweird, within an hour of being back home he would appear at the back door with a mouthful of something, but never bothered the rest of the year.
Luckily my cat has never murdered anything (so far as I know) and has never brought me a pressie.
My brother has two cats and they are both natural born killers, mice, birds, frogs, you name it - they've killed it and bought it home.
Maybe its because I live in a town centre and the pigeons are just too darn big for my puss...
Other than wearing a bell (which yours does) I don't think there is a way, that's what cats do unfortunately. It's nature!

Why would you try to stop it doing what is the most natural thing in the world for him.
Of course its hard on the bird population but the biggest killer of song birds in this country is domestic cats, yours is just adding to the numbers!!
If you have a cat at least let it behave in a natural way when it is outside!!
