My dog

My elderly dog Megan (14 ) has beeen diagnosed with a tumour on her lung, we dont know if its benign or malignant. She is ok at moment with a drug regime to help her breathing as the growth causes a cough like kennel cough which she was originally treated for. Have any other AB ers been through this and what was the result. If any of you are minded please think of her in your prayers as my family are thankyou. Geoff

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear about Megan. We had an elderly dog whose kidneys failed and we had to have her put to sleep in the end. I just think you need to ask yourself whether she is suffering and whether you are keeping her alive for her or for yourselves. I cried for days after Judy was put down, but I know we did the right thing for her. Good luck and whatever decision you make, I know it will be for the right reasons.

I am so sorry tohear about your dog Megan.
What has the Vet advised. I do hope it is the tumour is non cancerous.
Kennel cough is a terrible thing in dogs, so I can imagine what your family are going through at the moment with this tumour.
My last Westie died of a brain tumour and it devasted us.
Think you will know when the time comes to do what is best for Megan.
Sometimes it is harder for us humans to let go.

Im so sorry to hear about Megan, its so distressing when your pet is ill and so hope its not as serious as you fear. I think your love for her will help you make the right decision when you have to. I have a thirteen year old dog and dread the time I have to face losing her, Im thinking of you.

Oh dear-I do know what you and your family are going thru...my -youngish-cat has just been diagnosed with an inoperable cancer of the jaw. I do wish I could give you specific advice about your dog,...all i can say is give her all the love you can -spoil her silly,and make her days as comfortable as possible. I know you must love her very much-you will find many supportive people here on AB-particularly on the Animals and Nature section...I know I have!
