Unhappy cat

Hi, my male neutured Maine co0n tabby, Diego, is five years old. The past few days he has been uncharacteristically quiet, he hasn't been too bothered by his food and is only going out for a few minutes at a time. He generally seems a bit down in the mouth although he still likes being fussed, is eating / toiletting fine and I have checked him over for lumps, bumps or signs of illness or fighting, but nothing! I was thinking maybe the cold weather is making him a depressed, or maybe he just doesn't like Christmas LOL. Anyone else experience this with their moggies?

He might not have any injuries but sometimes when they have had a bit of a scare they can go quiet. If he is not in obvious pain and is eating and going to the toilet okay he is probably alright in himself but I should keep an eye on him in case anything changes.
bensmum is right - cats are quite sensitive animals and are easily stressed.
The first time somebody told me that I laughed and looked over at Frankie and Merlin lounging on the back of the settee.
But territory is important to them and if there has been a punch-up outside he might actually be frightened to go out. I don't suppose cold weather helps either - why go out and play when you can sleep instead.
I hope Santa Kittie is good to Diego.
