This morning, I got a pair of socks from the drawer under my bed and sat down to put them on. As I unravelled them, I saw something fling out and fall by my right foot. You would never believe it, but it was a 9ct gold , thick wedding band! It had a few dents as if someone had worn it and although it fit my wedding finger perfectly, it was a bit too thick to be a ladies ring. That may not sound very bizarre but Im not married! I live with my fiance (who im due to be married to in August) and our 6 year old daughter. We have no idea where it came from. Does this mean anything?!

Maybe it is an omen, to bring the wedding forward!
That's really odd if you don't have any idea who it belongs to , .......I'm off to look in my sock drawer.....
has anyone else been doing your washing?

I called my mum shortly after I found it and she said that my nan had probably sent it to me (its the 7th anniversary of her death on 22nd Jan) to give her blessing.
She knew my fiance as my boyfriend - I didnt get engaged til after she died.

so who knows?

Question Author
No, unfortunately Im not rich enough to afford someone to do my washing!

I dont have many visitors, usually my mum and sisters but none of them are married.
So does you mum think it once belonged to your grandpa Lueclue ? :-)
Question Author
No, she just thinks my nan may have 'sent it'.

My nan got married to my grandad in the 1940's - they wouldnt have been able to afford something that thick.

I recently got given my nans wedding ring by my sister to be made into my own wedding ring, and thats really thin.
While you're there can you see if my son's christmas present is in any of your other socks?
It's a silver bracelet with the letter E on it and a small charm with a fingerprint. Thanks!

lol - Ive had a look! sorry, not there!
Has your wife been to the launderette by any chance? If so, there may be some poor soul looking for his/her wedding ring.

Just a a thought....
Hi Lueclue :o)

Wow how weird!!! Lovely to think it could be a sign from your Grandma tho :o)
Have you thought about taking it to a jewellers and getting it examined, they should be able to tell you when it was made etc.. there maybe something there that may connect with your grandma (like same date as her wedding, or when she was born etc..) It was just a thought to maybe get a bit more background. If you do decide let us know what you find out :o)
Do you do your washing in a laundromat or at home?
Could the ring have been wedged in the drawer (say between the mattress and the top of the drawer) and recently got dislodged (turning a mattress possibly) and fell down into the socks ? Can you recall the last time you actually laundered that pair of socks - if they were at the back of the drawer for a while, the ring could have been there for ages...
Question Author
hi thanx for your replies.

I do all my own washing - unfortunately. I havent worn this particular pair of socks for a long time. I have a thing for socks (I own over 110 pairs!) so dont often get round to wearing a pair again for months after!

We rarely get visitors round out flat, and no one that visits has been in my bedroom so no one could have left it

Its probably going to remain one of life's little mysteries.
Hi Lueclue,
Do you hang your washing outside to dry, could be that a naughty 'thieving' magpie deposited the ring.....
... but must admit I prefer the message from your grandma theory. That's the one I would believe.
