I have a 3 year old lab/collie cross, who for the past 3 years has slept at the end of our bed. The problem is we have a new baby coming in 13 weeks and I don't want her in the bedroom when the baby is there. she is a very affectionate, loving animal, but, I know she is going to be funny at first as she was our first "baby". How do I change her sleeping arrangments without her thinking she is being punished?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, can I ask why you don't want the dog in the same room when the baby arrives?

I don't have any advice (sorry) just curious..........
If the dog gets ****** off with the noise it will just take itself away anyway.
I have to say I am curious also, if she is an affectionate loving dog she should be alright with your baby, How can you think that she won't feel as if she is being punished, when I had my first son I included my dogs (2 male German Shepherds) in every thing I did, they sat either side of me when I was feeding my baby, they were with me when I bathed him and changed him I never ever cut them out that it a surefire way of creating resentment towards your baby, obviously you have to be vigilant at all times and never leave a dog alone with a baby at any time but please don't push the poor dog away it's a recipe for disaster. Introduce the dog to your baby as soon as you get home with it, but not before you have said your hello's first, I had my dogs sitting quietly then put the baby down on the carpet for them to sniff, my husband watched one dog and I the other, my mother almost had kittens but didn't dare say a word, I never had any problems, the dogs new the baby smelled like me so therefore accepted him immediately.
I agree with above, why dont you want the dog in the same room as the baby.........the dog is going to feel left out as it is, and changing its sleeping arrangements is only going to make matters worse. You need to try and give the dog as much attention as normal when the baby arrives.

Have to say though, that I dont see why the baby has to be in your bedroom anyway, I put my son in his own room, in a carry cot inside his cot from day 1, best way IMO as then you dont have any problems with the baby when you put them in their own room. Just a thought.
Just cancel the order for the new baby. Stick with dogs, much better.
You are right lankeela, though it may be a bit late for that, lol.Dogs are a lot less of a problem though!
Nice one Lankeela totally aggree, I'd rather have puppies than babies any day but each to their own I suppose!
Yep I have to agree too with Lankeela LOL!!
