barking dog

I have an 11 month old Samoyed puppy, absolutely gorgeous. Our last Sammi died aged 13 years so we are used to the nature of dog. Mason is such a sweetie but when we meet other dog he just barks constantly because he wants them to play. He does play really well with other dogs but when we stop to chat with some owners whose dogs are not of the lead he just yaps all the time. He is not aggresive in anyway, loves people etc.Any advise on how to stop the yapping would be must appreciated. He does go to puppy training and does really well but he still yaps there. Trainers say they have n4ver met a quiet sammi yet. Harley are last dog hardly ever barked. Please help. Thanking you in advance. Chris

Hi Christinemar!

Your pup sounds just like my boy! He is a 4 year old sammie, and we took him to training but in the end had to try one 2 one sessions as he sat there and just barked as he wanted to play and we were getting nowhere fast and making it sooo difficult for everyone else there!
My love for sammies started when i was young, as my dad knows 2 Samoyed breeders and I used to go there with him. Both the breeders have said to me that sammies are very vocal dogs and its just what they are like!
Maybe your quiet sammie was a one off!?
