We bought a budgie last wednesday, She is about 9 weks old, and is as daft as a brush she does the funniest things she, has us in histerics, when our neighbour saw we had a budgie he asked us if we could have his as he didnt want it anymore, as ours is a female and his is a male he told us they would get on well as his budgie always had a mate up until last year, and ours came from an avery with others there wouldnt be a problem.

we bought a new big cage for ours but i would like to put them both together, they can see each other and talk to each other all day mostly cherping and then that deep squawk, i have tried them once together but i seperated them as she kept flying on top of his back which he didnt like, and then she was all kissy with him and then he pecked her really hard cos she wouldnt leave him alone, cut her above the eye and tried pulling her off the perch by her head, How can i introduce them so they except each other?

If yours still has the bar markings on top of the head the adult c0ck bird will not be interested in it. It will not be sending the right signals to the other one.
If his hen died recently he might not be looking for a new mate yet. Is he molting? they can get a bit cranky at that time of stress.
I am confident that things will settle down once they have become used to each other through the wire. Budgies are gregarious by nature so will come to appreciate each other's company.
