Hi jules77 I have heard about this before, but know it as lungworm from snails if dogs eat them,don't know if it's the same or another worm due to it being called heart worm .g.

I have heard of that also, think this is a different parasite.

yes its a different parasite, I discussed this with my vet when the pups went for their six month check about a month ago.
18 years ago, we lived in New Jersey USA for a while. Heartworm is endemic over there and you treated for it monthly as a matter of course. At the time the vet said that it was spreading to europe and had been found in France and in his opinion it would be only a matter of time before it reached the uk
