I have just witnessed a sparrow hawk swoop down and kill a little tit having it's lunch in the garden, I found this very distresssing and something I don't want to see again. Is there a way of getting rid of the hawk (other than shooting it) or do I stop feeding the birds on the open lawn?
thank you everyone for the helpful advice which I will take.I love nature and have loads of wild animals visit the garden, even a badger, facinating creatures.
This happens regularly in my garden too, however as I live in the heart of the country, I'm afraid it is nature at its worst. The Hawk is close to the top of the food chain, I'm afraid the tit is way down. It would be unfair to stop this it is natures way of culling, and the hawk has to survive and feed young also.
