My brave lurcher Rocky.

Hi all!
Just to keep you all posted. I have had Rocky to the vets again today and they are certain that it isn't cancer that is causing Rocky not to eat, it is his body giving out due to old age. Truth be told i don't believe he has ever got over the operation.
Anyway i was given 2 options at my vets, you all know what they are. However my vet agrees with me that my Rocky is in no pain just tired.
On this point i have chosen to bring him home where he belongs with the family who adore him. I want him to be as comfortable as possible for the time he has left. The vet said that could be anywhere between 12 hours and 5 days.
When i went to the vet i carried him in and laid him on the table where he proceeded to growl at me and try to jump off. He clearly still has fight left in him and did not want to be there lol. Bless him.
I will keep you all posted on my Rocky's progress. Just say a little prayer for him as i will.
I have to say though if he shows any sign of pain or suffering then i will have to admit defeat and sadly let him go.
I can remember when i found him dumped in gardens at just the tender age of 3 weeks and i had to take him home and bottle feed him. How strange and sad that i would be doing this again 14 years later. My beautiful ball of fluff (then not now). I love him so much it literally hurts, but i owe him this much so i have to do it.
As i say i will keep you posted.
THANKYOUXX

I've just given him a bowl of readybrek with a syringe. It's a nightmare trying to think of things that are watery.
I have sent off for some astro oil that i have seen advertised on the internet. It is for chronic renal failure, it's only 21 so i may as well give it a go. I have also researched this and have found quite a lot of information which all seems to be positive. I can't give up until there is no hope at all.
Anyway it's very kind of you to think of me today, i really appreciate it.
I'll keep you all informed!
Love as always, Trudy and Rockyxxx

Hiya Ruthx
I am ecstatic today thanks. Rocky has eaten 2 sausages and a piece of corned beef.
I know it doesn't seem like much but it is the first solid food he has eaten for nearly a month.
As i posted earlier, i have started Rocky on Astro's oil and don't know if it is just a coincidence or whether it is working.
I don't really care what it is though, i'm absolutely chuffed to bits. I cried my eyes out i was so happy and of course relieved just to see him eat.
I know there is no cure for Rocky but i refuse to let him die of starvation or dehydration.
Anyway the oil apparently takes 2-4 weeks before you see any real results so i will keep you informed.
I'm just taking one day at a time, but as each day passes i am just so grateful that my baby is still with me.
Keep watching for my posts.
Take care,
Love Trudy and Rockyxxx

Hiya Ruth!
Hope you are well.
Thanks for your post. Rocky has also eaten some mashed potato and gravy. He hasn't been sick now for 3 days and the diahorrea has lessened.
He obviously isn't ready to just give up. How wrong my vet was when she gave him a maximum of 5 days but said she thought it would be about 12 hours. It has been 10 days since i was given that information and just pray that this is the turning point i have been hoping for. FINGERS CROSSED.

Just a thought. One of the best things for invalids is plain beef tea. It could help Rocky a lot.
Just buy some beef skirt from the butcher, cover it with about lpt water and cook it in a very, very slow oven for about four or five hours (or a slow cooker). The meat will almost fall apart when it is ready and you can then mash it down into the liquid or strain it.
A very old fashioned remedy to build up people after illness. We used it years ago on a pet dog who had been lost for three weeks and was virtually starving to death when we found him.
Don't use any seasoning.

Oh bless you Trudy. I will look in every day to see how it's going for you. It must be so difficult for you being on your own with the kids, but you are doing so well.
I'm not a religious person but I do believe in the power of thought, and am really wishing the best for you, Rocky and your little family.
