My brave lurcher Rocky.

Hi all!
Just to keep you all posted. I have had Rocky to the vets again today and they are certain that it isn't cancer that is causing Rocky not to eat, it is his body giving out due to old age. Truth be told i don't believe he has ever got over the operation.
Anyway i was given 2 options at my vets, you all know what they are. However my vet agrees with me that my Rocky is in no pain just tired.
On this point i have chosen to bring him home where he belongs with the family who adore him. I want him to be as comfortable as possible for the time he has left. The vet said that could be anywhere between 12 hours and 5 days.
When i went to the vet i carried him in and laid him on the table where he proceeded to growl at me and try to jump off. He clearly still has fight left in him and did not want to be there lol. Bless him.
I will keep you all posted on my Rocky's progress. Just say a little prayer for him as i will.
I have to say though if he shows any sign of pain or suffering then i will have to admit defeat and sadly let him go.
I can remember when i found him dumped in gardens at just the tender age of 3 weeks and i had to take him home and bottle feed him. How strange and sad that i would be doing this again 14 years later. My beautiful ball of fluff (then not now). I love him so much it literally hurts, but i owe him this much so i have to do it.
As i say i will keep you posted.
THANKYOUXX

Just a suggestion - and you might already be doing this - but when it is his time to go ask the vet to come to the house to do it. Rocky will be happy and not distressed at all at the end and that will make you feel much better too.
My thoughts are with you and Rocky. He has had a lovely life with you and you will be with him to the very last moments. He could not ask for more.
With love to you both.

Thanyou for all of your kind words. It feels good to know that there are many people in the world who love animals as much as i do.

Sorry to hear your news cherry :-(.Life has come full circle for you and your lovely Rocky. This is the part of our animals lives, that we all dread. It's good that Rocky is surrounded with so much love and that your vet will not be putting him through thae ordeal of another visit to the surgery.Loads of hugs to your baby and I'll be thinking of him.Take care,Linda xx
Be strong sweetie... all of us animal lovers have been there and know exactly how you are feeling right now.... you've done everything right and given your lovely Rocky a great life, plus he has given you a million tons of love back.... so just think about all the positive things about his life and what a great time you had together - imagine what your life would have been like if you'd never met him !!! Hehe.. I can see you smiling now... xxx J
i know how you are feeling facing this you have made the right decision to have the vet come to you ,it made losing our dog so much better for her as she just went to sleep on her quilt in the kitchen with my son and me sitting on the floor with her .it is 1 of the longest mornings of my life once we made the decision waiting for the vet to come my thoughts are with you and rocky, you should be proud of yourself for taking him on at such a early age and giving him a lovely life xxxRuth
I will be thinking of you at this sad time. Like all animal lovers I have been in this situation (more than once unfortunately) and I think you are doing the right thing in letting him be at home with people who love him. He has had a good long life with you and I'm sure he trusts you to let him go when he is ready.

Hello everyone.
Rocky is still hanging in there. I've resorted now to giving him cartons of baby milk in a bottle as well as the water.
He is in no pain so i will just leave him in peace for now. I just want to cram as much love in as i can for the short time he has left.
I can't thank all of you enough for your love and support, i am truly touched.
Will keep you posted.
God blessxx
