Is yorkie your boyfriend?
Your Yorkshire Terrior should be at least 2 yrs old before you use him for a stud so that he is fully mature.

P.S.
Hey wildwood yorkie is short for a Yorkshire terrior which is a small breed dog not a man!!
animal prostitution! you should be ashamed of yourself
Why do you want to let your Yorkie be used at stud? Is he a superb specimen of the breed, and correct to the breed standard? Has he done a lot of winning at top level in the show ring? Does he carry rare blood lines that are not available anywhere else in the country? Have you studied his pedigree and know all there is to know about his ancestors? Is he the right size for a Yorkie? Has he has all the health checks done for any conditions that Yorkies suffer from?

If the answer to any of the above is no, then it is unlikely anyone with a decent bitch would want to use him. Most reputable breeders only use a dog that meets the above criteria.

If you want to use him because you think it will be a way of making money, then think again. Unless he is a well known proven stud, no-one is going to want to pay to use him when they can get one that meets all the above criteria.

It can also make him start scent marking your home, mounting your leg or children, wandering from home to find a bitch in season, fight with any other dog he meets and generally behave like a randy young teenager who can't control his urges.

Ok, I've said my piece, now you can start having a go at me for trying to give you sound advice.
I am with Lankeela.

My main question would be 'why' do you want to use him at stud?

thanks frustrated for giving a decent answer unlike all the other silly1s!
well my dog has come from a line of 4 top pedigree dogs, parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents and great great grandparents,so im sure he meets the criteria plus some! This is not a money making idea,i would just like to share my perfect dog with others. If all people thought like you some dogs would become extinct. I know all about his other relatives and have names and dobs, also hes had all the nessersery health checks, what do you think i am,a idiot? If he was a heinz 57(mongrol) then no i wouldnt stud him, what would be the point.Such silly answers you gave me lankeela and jules77!?
Yet another predictable answer from someone who thinks they know better. No wonder pedigree dog breeders get so much bad press.

Oh and I forgot to say, yes I do think you are an idiot.
Just because he comes from a line of 'top' pedigree dogs, does not mean that he has inherited their finer points. Although good dogs do slip the net and get offered to pet homes, most good breeders can spot a puppy with potential and will either keep it themself, or only offer to a show home. In any litter there are usually only one or two, occasionally a few more, that show the potential to win in the ring, and the rest are sold to pet homes, even though they may have champion winning parents. I doubt you will find any breeder willing to use your dog unless he has proved himself in the show ring, and been tested on one of your own bitches, if you have one, so they can see what kind of puppies he throws.

But, you can support one of the many BYB's around, and run the risk your 'perfect' dogs puppies being sold to unsuitable homes and adding to the rising population of dogs in Rescue.

We may all think our dogs are 'perfect' but in reality, as far as the Kennel Club breed standard is concerned, there is no such thing, but some dogs fit the blueprint closer than others.
So I guess you know that your dogs relations are free from open fontanellas, patella luxation, Perthe's disease, collapsed trachea and elongated soft palate's?

And you already know that your dog should be tested under the KC scheme for PRA and late onset HC?
You haven't really answered the most important point, have you? Has your yorkie won consistently at well attended shows??? Good pedigree only means that you can expect a good progeny. Most pups from even two show winning dogs will be rubbish for showing, only a few making the grade and only if you're lucky you get another show winner.
Most dog breeds have health problems particular to their breed and these are perpetuated and exacerbated through line breeding and indiscriminate matings by inexperienced breeders.
u lot need 2 chill out she only asked a simple question she didnt need a lecture from u ab freaks. and as 4 calling some1 an idiot just 4 asking a qustion is just rude, the rules state this, but im sure u all know this as your on here all the time picking on people 4 not being as great as u all.ha ha
Mad- irish, These people are just giving good advice, there are too many people breeding dogs without going into the whys and wherefores and it needs people like Lankeela and Jules to put them right, if they don't like it tough luck, as I've said before on other posts we just care about the welfare of these offspring. ( I don't suppose we'll hear from Messyjessy again as usual with these posters they'll go on another site and ask them silly questions)

you will hear from me again as i feel ive done nothing wrong but ask a simple question. I love all animals and would never do anthing to hurt them, but you have all made me feel like im commiting an act of animal cruelty by wanting to breed my pedigree yorkie with another pedigree yorkie,im not trying to breed a perfect breed because thats where things go wrong as im sure some of you are aware that the kennel club arnt as good as they think and breed dogs like they are prizes or money making machines. i just wanted to breed mine for pets to go to loving homes and families,i would never let them go just to any old person just to make a few pounds, thats just awful. Im not an idiot either, ive owned dogs all my life and would never hurt them and treat them like a human.so please stop insulting me,im a genuine animal lover, not some council estate, social scrounger that just wants to make money from my dog.
As the owner of the stud dog you have absolutely no rights over where the puppies go to, the owner of the bitch can sell them to whoever they like.

Knowing the names and dates of birth of the dogs in his pedigree doesn't mean you know anything about them - anyone can find out the names and dates of birth.

You asked for advice and we gave it - whether you take it is up to you but we have seen it so many times before.

As for the Kennel Club they do not breed dogs, they only register them and you seem proud of the ancestors of your dog that have a pedigree, no doubt issued by the Kennel Club. And as for breeding dogs with problems, if you have not had him tested for the things suggested above, how can you know he won't pass them on?

And as for calling this person an idiot, she asked if I thought she was, so I told her.

why are you still being rude to me,i am do nothing wrong? maybe stud was the wrong word, should of used breed. I didnt ask for advice just a age for when a dog produces sperm. I am NOT one of these bad people you are making me out to be,please stop calling me an idiot, why would you think that, what have i done to deserve that? please stop this.
Ok MJ, you asked for advice on how old your yorkie should be before it was used at stud, so you were obviously unfamiliar with breeding. As we have stated, having a nice dog that you want to put to a nice bitch is not the be all and end all of breeding, and as such we gave you good advice.

If you are a responsible dog owner, like you state, you will think again before offering your dog at stud to anyone, for the reasons given above. As we have said, you will be hard pushed to find any good breeder to use him if he has not been proven.
messyjessy12, you really must develop a thicker skin if you're going to ask questions in a public domain such as Internet forums.

To show you how easy it is to get a topic into a slanging match..... You stated you are not an idiot but in the same sentence said that you treat dogs like humans. You've also just insulted millions of hard working council estate residents.
