Just moved into new house, fitted new carpet and now suffering a very strong smell of pee...ammonia. I do not have any pets therefore rules out animal pee. Tried adour granules from Rentokil to no avail. Still there. Smelt teh carpet thinking this could be the problem, but not located the same smell. At my wits end, any ideas...please?

Is it just in one room or is the whole house affected? Was there anything like it before the carpet was laid? If this has only happened since the carpet has been down then I can only think it is something to do with the carpet. Sorry I cann't be more help, you must be tearing your hair out. Hope you find the answer soon.
Have you tried wiping over the carpet with white vinegar ??
