I went and stroked a lab dog (with owners consent) as I miss the one I used to look after, considering we'd never met before, she came and leaned onto my legs in an upright sitting position which surprised the owner too - what does this mean?
I know dogs usually jump around or sit still when you stroke them but this was a first.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.They are very perceptive animals and the dog sensed you were a friend, it's a way on showing affection - our darling Curly used to do that - we lost her at Easter 2007 and have only just come to terms with buying another pup.
We were in Melbourne for Christmas and while there went out to look at a litter of pups - the bitch who had never met us before came up quite readily to led against both of us - needless to say there'll be a small curly black bundle arriving here before too long - can't wait !!!
