I watched the film Groundhog day (it was not very good) and remember and episode of Stargate with the same story - reliving the same day over and over again.

If this could happen and I was the only one aware of it happening (fun!) would I grow older? And the most important question - if I stuck to my diet could I lose a massive amount of weight during the one repeated day?

Thanks

PS What is a groundhog? Nope - might stick that in A&N.

In the film, Bill Murray started the next day, as he ended the previous one and so could eat junk, throw himself off buildings and so on, knowing that everything would be ok when he woke.

So I would the diet wouldn't work as you would only lose a day's worth of weight to put it on again when you woke.
Oh and a groundhog is a North American burrowing rodent. The appearance of which, some Americans believe, heralds good weather after the winter.
... Sometimes called a Wood Chuck... remember in the movie that Bill Murray is in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to cover the annual celebration (Februrary 2) of whether or not the Ground Hog (this one's named Punxsutawney Phil) will see his shadow, foretelling 6 more weeks of winter if he does. It was the furry, small dog sized critter the top hatted officials consulted... Scientifically, its classification is Marmota monax... more than you ever wanted to know about an overgrown mouse, I'm sure...
On the other hand while Bill Murray didn't gain any weight, miraculously he did retain the memories of all the intervening days and thus had the ability to learn (slowly) from his mistakes and to play the piano (among other skills).

So - I just wait until next February before starting my diet, go to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and look out for a giant mouse thing. Foolproof.....

And I have loads of time to practice my pronounciation of "Punxsutawney".

Thanks everybody.
