Hello all fellow cat lovers, my poor 3 year old cat, Floyd, has for the last few days been losing his meow, it's a bit like a small growl now and I wondered what could be wrong with the little bloke. He's eating and drinking well in fact i'd say it's normal for him and he still gets plenty of exercise and he still purrs like normal.

It's a bit like he's lost his knackers and now there growing again, sorry about the joke but my sence of humour is pretty good.

Cheers in advance...

Hi Disco:

Sorry to hear that about the little fella - I take it you'll be consulting your vet?

Maybe his "voice has broken" as in teenage lads?

Best of luck to him - give him loads of cuddles and tickles - he deserves them, the little soul.
Awww poor little Floyd. Haven't got any answers but here is something to compensate:

If you are worried take him to the vet and get him checked out. How old is he btw?
We have a cat with the same problem, its like she's miming at us,but every now and again her voice does come back.We dont really worry about her as she is fit ,still eats and drinks ok and still quite playful.
Vet - asap. It could be something similar to laryngitis in humans, or another throat infection. I think it needs looking at, because something as simple as an antibiotic injection could clear it up. If it was my cat I wouldn't hesitate. Good luck. Schutz.

Thank you all, I think a trip to the nice vet woman will be in order and she is very nice looking as well so a good day will be had by me and my poor Floyd will not be happy at an injection....
Hi Disco, that happened to one of my cats a few years ago, turns out it was a chest infection, one antibiotic jab and 30 later, he was feeling and sounding much better!!

Don't be surprised if he finds his voice just as you get him into the cat basket though - mine did! Very embarrassing/funny saying to the receptionist "This is Elvis, we have an appointment because he's lost his voice" as he was howling away beside me!! Little sod! :)

Hope you get your's sorted.
