Cattery
6 Answers
My friend is trying to sell her house and her next door neighbour has a cattery in the garden, where she breds cats - my friend thinks that prospective buyers are being put off her house because of this. You can clearly see it from her garden and hear the kittens/cats meowing.
Is it legal to run a cattery from your back garden ?

I really find it hard to believe that a cattery is the cause of your friend not being able to sell her house. The noise in most cases would be absolutely minimal, and there is virtually no mess/smell, as they have to dispose of their litter in a way that is acceptable to the council.
Councils can take a dim view of a cattery with no planning permission:

It would not put me off buying next to a cattery but I would talk to the neighbour and ask a few things to put my mind at rest, how many cats ? are they let loose to poo in my garden ? I wouldnt have thought that contented cats make that much noise but if they are Siamese may be ?
