Lol, do you have fur on your bum??
I have been thinking long and hard about this and here is my answer:
They dont have toilet tissue to wipe their butts so they have evolved hairles butts to minimise klankers.

haha no i dont, but seriously, they have massive red bubbly bums!!
How about female chimps when they`re on heat? Yuk, what a awful sight.
Maybe they are big and red so they can find each other in the dark....
I'm laughing here!
The ones with a follicly challenged derrieres use that to signal to a potential mate that they are sexually receptive.

It also makes it easier to rest in the posture how they spend most of their lives; sitting on their bum, so hair wouldn't grow much there anyway.

Wildwood's right.
Female baboons and male mandrills have red bottoms. The females show theirs when they're ready to mate, and the male mandrills, who also have red faces, show themselves off by exposing their rear ends. The more brightly coloured, the more dominant the male is within the group.
My husband went a bit red in the face the other night, but I didn't see the hue of his backside. Makes you wonder.......
